Reflections

the Holy Spirit     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 25, Wednesday 6th week of Easter – [Jesus said to his disciples: “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth.” John 16:12-15] - Jesus is the absolute Truth, His teachings, His deeds, His whole being. The truth is ‘like a solid food’ that is hard to swallow, very real and simple as it is… Am I open to what is true even if it brings discomfort? How do I welcome the truth in my life? - Jesus sends us the Holy Spirit to strengthen us as we try to witness Christ-life in our lives. Lord, grant me the docility to Your Spirit so that I may be able to do your will. Amen.

Letting Go     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 23, Tuesday 6th Week of Easter – [“But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.” John 16:5-11] At one point in my life, my own personal experience of ‘letting go’ was painful. It took me a lot of courage to let go and to move on. Looking back at that experience, my act of letting go had actually paved the way for the better things to enter in my life. The practice of letting go challenges my faith and trust in God. Lord, grant me the grace of courage to let go and let You work for me. Amen.

The Advocate - Holy Spirit     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 23, Monday 6th Week of Easter – [Jesus said to his disciples: “When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me. And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.” John 15:26–16:4a] Almighty God I pray to increase my hope, strengthen my faith, and openness to the Spirit. Amen.

"My peace I give to you."     by:   Sr. Leizle SSS

May 22, [“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” Jn 14:23-29 (C)] In this time of trouble and confusion, only God can give peace by placing my faith and trust in Him.

Following Christ     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

Saturday, 5th week of Easter – [‘’If the world hates you, remember that the world hated me before you. This would not be so if you belonged to the world, because the world loves its own. But you are not of the world, since I have chosen you from the world; because of this the world hates you. John 15:18-21] Jesus is telling me clearly that following him means also sharing his lot, the possibility of being rejected and even hated by ‘the world’ because the Gospel values are different from the world. Lord, grant me the grace to remain faithful to my calling and vocation as a follower of Jesus Christ.

"I who chose you."     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 20, Friday, 5th week of Easter – [‘It was not you who chose me, It was I who chose you…’ Jn 15:12-17] In God’s great love, He created me. He made me exist in the world, born to a family, giving me home. By virtue of baptism, God has given me an identity, a child of God, and sharer in the life of His Son Jesus Christ. In His merciful love, He chose me, called me to follow Him closely by becoming His servant…, servant of the Blessed Sacrament. Thank you Lord for your great love, and I beg for your grace to teach me to love like you. Amen.

"So I also love you."     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 19, Thursday, 5th week of Easter - [‘As the Father loves me, so I also love you.’ Jn. 15:9-11] I imagine myself that Jesus is looking at me with love… I go back to my experiences of God’s love in my life. From there, by God’s grace, I can also love others.

'Remain in my Love'     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 18, Wednesday, 5th week of Easter - [‘’I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.’’ ] Jn 15:1-8 Many people seek their happiness in material things, in fame, in prestige, in honor, in their works or deeds. In the Gospel today, Jesus presents Himself as the source of everything, the source of life. And to remain in Him assures a life that lived-to-the fullest! Thus, I beg the Lord for the grace to seek Him, and have a personal encounter with His person so that I may be able to follow him and remain in His love. Only Jesus can give me the fullness of life. Amen.

Peace     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 17, Tuesday, 5th week of Easter – [‘’Peace be with you! My peace I give you… do not be troubled! Do not be afraid!’’ Jn.14:27-31] In this time of fear and uncertainties as we continually face the global crisis of COVOD-19 pandemic and coming to terms with the Post-effect of the recent National Election in our country … Lord, grant me the grace to be creative in cultivating peace within me and peace around me and be able to bring the Good News in this time of darkness.

Thought for the Day     by:   St. Peter Julian Eymard, SSS

May 16 - In this life, God also rewards his servants by a happiness that is not the same as that of heaven, but very real nonetheless. The happiness of earth is one of life and peace. One feels safe with God. And this gives rise to a feeling of happiness and strength, of well-being. This does not mean that the happiness that God gives as a reward to his servants is like what he gives to the saints in heaven. No. This is not perfect health, complete happiness at every moment. The Good Lord gives perfect happiness to the superior part of the soul. This happiness can co-exist with crosses and trials, and anything else. It is even made perfect by these trials. (Conference, Paris, Friday, February 14, 1862)

Love one another as I have love you!     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 15, 5th Sunday of Easter - [This is how all will know that you are my disciple, if you have love for one another. John 13:31-35 (C)] As a follower of Jesus Christ, He is simply reminding me to keep on loving even though it is difficult to love. Jesus is love! He was mocked, humiliated and crucified by people but He still loved them and died for them.

St. Matthias, the Apostle     by:   Sr. Leizle Pangngay, SSS

May 14, May 14, Feast of St. Matthias the Apostle. [It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. John 15:16] It was God who “chose” Saint Matthias, as well as each and every one of us, for the purpose of going forth to “bear fruit that will remain.” This reminds me of my own vocation. It was God who called me in this way of life. By God’s grace may I also bear ‘good fruit’ so that I can give glory to His Name

Prayer to Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament     by:   ----- ------

May 13, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament (Titular Feast of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and Servants of the Blessed Sacrament) Blessed are you, Mary, exalted Daughter of Sion! You are highly favoured and full of grace, for the Spirit of God descended upon you. We magnify the Lord and rejoice with you for the gift of the Word made flesh, our bread of life and cup of joy. Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, our model of prayer in the Cenacle, pray for us that we may become what we receive, the body of Christ your son. Amen

A Thought for the Day     by:   Sr. Leizle SSS

May 12, Thursday, 4th week of Easter – [‘The servant is not greater than his master, nor is the messenger greater than he who sent him.’’] Lord Jesus, I pray for the grace of humility, the grace to resist the desire for self-glory. Amen.

Be a light for others     by:   Sr. Leizle SSS

May 11, Wednesday, 4th week of Easter – [‘I have come into the world as light, so that who-ever believes in me may not remain in darkness.’ John 12:44-50] By virtue of Baptism, I became a child of God and made sharer in the mission of Christ. Christ is the Light of the world. When I was baptised, I received the light of Christ. By God’s grace, may I become an instrument of light for others. Amen.

A Thought for the Day     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 10, Tuesday, 4th week of Easter – [‘My sheep hear my voice and I know them; they follow me and I give them eternal life. They shall never perish and no one will ever steal them from me.’’ John 10:22-30] As a baptized Christian, I became part of God’s family. I am marked by God as His own. Thus, no evil can snatch me out from God’s hands.

the Good Shepherd 2     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 9, Monday, 4th week of Easter – [‘’I am the Good Shepherd… I lay down my life in order to take it up again. No one takes is up for me, I lay it down freely… John 10:11-18] Jesus' love for us is beyond our thoughts and imaginations. In a very concrete way, He died for us, redeeming us back to the Father. Whenever I meditated and contemplated God's love, I couldn't help but move to tears because only in Him that I can find such great love… Thank you Lord for loving me!

The Good Shepherd     by:   Sr. Leizle SSS

May 8, The Good Shepherd Sunday [“Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice; I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.’ John 10:27-30 (C)] I ponder on Jesus, the Good Shepherd who loves his flock dearly. Looking at the crucifix, there I find the concrete way of Jesus’ expression of love- He suffered and died on the cross. His shepherding love led Him to suffer greatly and to lay His life down so that we could be saved. Jesus was not afraid to die for us, because His love was perfect. As a follower of Jesus Christ, I am also called to imitate His sacrificial love for others in my daily life. To do this, I am challenged to overcome my selfish tendency, to practice charity by putting others before me. Afterall, love is not only experiencing heartwarming moments with others but first and foremost, love is about being sacrificial.

'Lord, to whom shall I go?'     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 7, Saturday, 3rd week of Easter – [‘’Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life. We now believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.’’ John 6:60-69] In my early years of formation in religious life, there were several times that I was tempted to give up and leave the formation. But whenever I bring it to prayer and talk sincerely and honestly to God, I always end up with this words, ‘Lord, to whom shall I go, you have the words of everlasting life, and in you I found the meaning of my life…’’ And with that conviction, I’ve found the strength to continue moving forward to the path I have chosen.

Jesus the Bread of Life 4     by:   Sr. Leizle, SSS

May 6, Friday, 3rd week of Easter – [‘’those who eat my flesh and drink my blood, live in me, and I in them.’’ John 6:52-59] Thank you Lord for the gift of the Eucharist. As I receive You in the Holy Communion, may your Body and Blood transform me into your likeness, Amen.
